When Doves Cry
........................—for Prince
by T. R. Poulson

How......... they cry .........I hear them
Can you .........see that ocean .... ... of violets
Just leave... .... those butterflies tied up.... ... in blooms
Me standing .........here screaming inside

Alone .........like animals .........strike curious poses
In a world .........we find wild......... demanding
That’s .........trembling .........at times
So cold
